1 Corinthians 15:56-58
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Because God has given us the victory in Jesus.
Because we have a new, better covenant.
We need to be strong and immovable, not in faith, not in love, but abounding in the work of the Lord.
Abounding, doing a lot, a bunch, doing much, doing many things in service to Jesus.
This is how we show our faith and love, in our actions, in our obedience to the Lord.
He is our King, and our High Priest, who we must follow and obey.
Doing the work, bringing people the message of the gospel, living Christian lives, is to be abounding in the faith and love.
Remember what James said.
Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith by works.
Faith cannot be seen without actions.
The same can be said of love.
All who believe in the Lord and love the Lord have works, that show their faith and love.
Finally, in the last part of the last sentence, know "that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
Anything we do for the Lord, in His service, in love to Him is not in vain.
Even if we see no results here on this earth.
It could be we plant a seed that will come to a harvest later.
Maybe another will water and still someone else will harvest.
But we share in the work, and all credit goes to the Lord, Who guides us all.
If, like Noah, we never convince a single soul to come to the Lord, we have still done our duty as unworthy servants.
God still counts our service as righteous, and we are still blessed.
Maybe we will simply encourage and strengthen other believers with our good example.
Our visible faith and love.
This is also a noble work for the Lord, showing our obedience.
Because we have this victory in Jesus, this redemption of sin.
Because we are promised a home with God in glory.
We should not stop sharing the message of Jesus and the love of God with others.
So, they too can know the love of the Lord and be in that heavenly home we all wait for.
