Paul talked to the Galatians about their straying from the gospel so easily, so quickly.

He told them if anyone, even an angel, preached another gospel to them, that person should be accursed.

We should treat them as someone to be avoided, and their teaching especially should be ignored.

Then Paul says this:

Galatians 1:10

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Sometimes, we must come against incorrect teaching that people have accepted.

And this is going to be offensive to a lot of people.

When we speak the truth against the lies they have believed, their first, human, reaction may be anger.

But it is not our job to please their human nature, which is the same nature we fight against ourselves.

Our job is to tell them the truth, to teach them what God has told us in His word.

We are not looking for their approval.

We are not trying to please them.

As a servant of Christ, we are trying to point them to truth in Jesus, so they can be saved.

Don't be surprised teaching the truth causes strife instead of peace.

Our human nature rebels against God.

Our pride is at odds with the Lord.

It is not in arrogance to people that we speak the truth of the gospel.

It is in humility to God, our Father and King.

It is our Lord that we serve and endeavor to please.
