Philippians 2:5 - "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus"
What does it mean to have the mind of Christ?
Jesus teaches us to do the opposite of what we naturally want to do.
We want to serve ourselves, please ourselves.
Jesus tells us to serve others.
We want to exalt ourselves, to tell how great we are.
Jesus tells to humble ourselves.
We aim to be first, to be on top.
Jesus encourages us to be last.
We fight ferociously to defend ourselves.
Jesus tells us to turn the other cheek.
We can't think like the world and have the mind of Christ.
We must allow the Holy Spirit and God's Word to change our thinking.
To change our minds and hearts.
People say we are not saved by works and this is true, the Bible agrees.
Our salvation comes before any works.
However, salivation should generate the work to become more like Jesus.
Are we seeking the Lord?
Are we obeying the Lord?
If not, are we saved?
Was our baptism true and sincere?
To have the mind of Christ, we must abandon our wants and desires.
Our desire must be for a deep relationship with God.
This only comes through the Bible and prayer, in concert with the Holy Spirit.
We must be willing to change to be more like Jesus.
Take a moment each day to pause at the cross.
To reflect on Jesus and His example.
Are we acting out the Christian ("Christ like") life?
To do this we must have the mind of Jesus.
And to have that, we must immerse ourselves in prayer and God's word, the Bible.
We can't have the mind of Jesus, if we do not know Him.
