Come Together

Hebrews 10:23-25

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hold fast, cling to, do not let go, bind our faith to our hearts.

Take hold of our faith and keep it secure, do let it be taken from us.

Because Jesus, our Lord and Savior, is always faithful to us.

God, our Father, is always faithful to us.

The Holy Spirit is always faithful to us.

God has promised and will deliver, so we should stay faithful to Him.

Then we are told to consider one another.

How can we encourage each other?

We should provoke, stimulate, and incite each other to love.

Not human love which is here today and gone tomorrow, but Godly love.

True concern and care for others in our congregation and in the world.

The fruit of this love is virtuous action.

Benevolent, loving work for those in need.

Coming to the aid of our brethren and strangers alike.

And not deserting or abandoning the congregation.

The idea of Christians coming together to honor and worship God.

To study God's word and learn from the Bible and each other.

Don't go it alone.

On the contrary, encourage Christians and other people to attend.

Invite and call, summon people to come to the meetings.

For their benefit, to help them.

Notice the final inspiration.

Be even more motivated as you see the Day coming closer.

What "Day"?

The day of God's judgment, which Christ will exercise on the world.

Hell was made for Satan and his demons; we don't want people going there.

So, work harder, do more, be more faithful as we see the world get more sinful.

As the day approaches, we will see society get worse and worse.

Jesus said it will be like the days of Noah.

They continued to live their daily lives, full of sin.

God said their every intent was only evil.

Because they have rejected Christ, they will be caught unawares when He returns.

We do not want this for anyone.

So, we must do these things.

Hold to our faith, do not let it go.

Think of each other, encouraging one another in love to noble action.

Make sure to gather with other Christians to be strengthened and edified together.

The Body of Christ must come together and function as a body does.

We are all stronger in Christ, together.
