Proverbs 31:8-9

8 Open your mouth for the speechless,

In the cause of all who are appointed to die.

9 Open your mouth, judge righteously,

And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

These two verses encourage us to speak up and advocate for those who are unable to defend themselves.

As Jesus is our advocate, we should also advocate for those in need in our land.

In verse 8, those "who are appointed to die" are those innocent victims who are being harmed, being erased.

Their lives are being destroyed by the wicked.

Those who are poor and defenseless and innocent.

And notice in verse 9, it is to be done righteously.

We cannot pervert justice, instead we must speak up for the true victims, the innocent.

We do not speak up for the criminals, those who have broken the law.

Instead, we speak up for their victims, those who society ignores as they favor their "flavor of the week" criminal cause.

Again, our focus should be on the innocent.

Society is not interested in truth or righteousness or justice.

Rather, we see the world pervert these things and ignore or even injure the innocent victims.

This is why we need God's word, His wisdom, because we are easily deceived by our own thoughts and ideas.

Our human emotions and opinions will not save us.

Only Jesus and His word can bring us to eternal salvation.

And only by following His ways can we improve our society and nation and make it a better place for everyone.

Identify those true victims, see the ones that the media ignores, the innocent.

Speak for them, plead their cause and help them.
