Romans 1:16-17
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
This is what we are unified in.
We as the Lord's church are unified in our knowledge of salvation in Jesus Christ.
We are not ashamed of the gospel, as if it was weak or useless.
Far from it.
We know that only in Jesus do we find our salvation.
In Jesus is the power of God's forgiveness to us.
In him we find the power to change our lives for the better.
To overcome our faults and issues.
In the gospel is the power to bring us to Heaven.
The righteousness of God is revealed to us in Jesus.
And Jesus imparts His righteousness to us.
Then we, the just, the righteous (in God's sight), live by our faith in Jesus.
By our belief that God loves us enough to die on the cross for us.
Loves us enough to give us His righteousness, so we can have eternal life with Him.
No, we are not ashamed of the gospel.
We are proud of our Lord and Savior.
We thank Him and praise Him for this great gift, that we could never earn.
