Colossians 1:13-18
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
There are two kingdoms.
The kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of Jesus, the Son.
There is no in between and no neutral kingdom.
We are either groping, lost in the suffocating darkness, fear and dread and hate of the world.
Or we are living in the light of our Lord and Savior.
Found and delivered into the kingdom of love and knowledge and anticipation.
It is the kingdom of Jesus and He has brought us in by His blood.
He washes us clean of our sins and ushers us in.
Our King is also a servant to us, out of love.
He is one with the Father, thus He is God.
Jesus revealed to us what the Father is like through His actions and teaching.
Jesus existed before creation.
Through Him all things were created, all of creation, the entire universe.
And He sustains all creation even now.
Jesus is the head of the church.
When He delivers us, we acknowledge Him as our Lord and Savior.
We put Him in charge, swearing our allegiance to Him and God's will.
We join His congregation of saints, and He gives us His righteousness.
And Jesus is the firstborn from the dead.
He defeated death for us.
Christ rules overall, even death.
We are delivered from that terrible darkness into the Light.
We live in His light and are sustained by it.
While we are here on this earth, we are His light.
It is not our light that shines and calls lost souls out of the darkness.
It is Jesus and His light that delivers from the power of darkness.
His kingdom, His city, shines on the hill for all to see.
Calling out for all to come and see the Light.
Be delivered and come to the Lord.
Live in His light.
Leave the darkness behind.
