John 8:31-32
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
The world will tell you; you are free.
Free to do whatever you want.
Free to be anything you want.
But without the Lord, no one is free.
Without God we are in bondage to our flesh
We are slaves of the sin and all the deceptions in society.
We can't be free if we do not first see and acknowledge our bonds.
Jesus tells us the truth is in His word.
We should be His disciple and live by His word, put our trust in Him.
Then the truth will be revealed to us.
Only by recognizing the truth of our chains, our sin, can we be free.
We must be following our Lord, abiding in His word and having His word live in us.
To accomplish this, we need to be baptized for forgiveness of our sins and to receive God's Holy Spirit.
Then we can be free and begin to live a life of true freedom.
Free to really be the person we are meant to be.
If we hold to Jesus' teachings, we will live the spiritually abundant life He has promised.
Where our life will be filled with joy and peace and purpose.
Real, meaningful purpose.
Jesus is offering this freedom to us, today and every day.
The Lord is our author of salvation and freedom.
His teachings bring us ever closer to be who God created us to be.
