Job 9:8-10
8 He alone spreads out the heavens,
And treads on the waves of the sea;
9 He made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades,
And the chambers of the south;
10 He does great things past finding out,
Yes, wonders without number.
11 If He goes by me, I do not see Him;
If He moves past, I do not perceive Him;
12 If He takes away, who can hinder Him?
Who can say to Him, ‘What are You doing?’
13 God will not withdraw His anger,
The allies of the proud lie prostrate beneath Him.
Job is comparing God to man.
And we come up woefully short.
Who do we think we are?
Can we tell God what to do?
How things should be?
Do we think we are more righteous than our Creator?
Can we do any of the great things the Lord has done?
Look at the beauty and the grandeur of the heavens.
The wonder of the sea and the sunsets.
Why does man think he is in any way able to compete with God?
We do not even perceive God and His work until it is written.
Can we fight God?
God laughs at us if we do.
It is pride that causes people to denounce God.
To resist God, to profane Him and His creation.
What does God say?
Psalm 37:12-13
12 The wicked plots against the just,
And gnashes at him with his teeth.
13 The Lord laughs at him,
For He sees that his day is coming.
Do not be destroyed by pride.
Turn to the Lord while there is time.
See Him for the just and righteous God He is.
Because none will survive His wrath when it comes against them.
